• WeSERVE Awarded Food Lion Grant

    Dumfries, VA – There is an increased demand in the communities around the Nation as well as the organizations that serve them due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus. WeSERVE has been dedicated to meeting the expanded need during this Pandemic and with the help of a few local partners, we will continue this work. On June 18, 2020, Food Lion, in conjunction with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), awarded a $2,000 Grant to WeSERVE CDC! Food Lion recognizes the efforts of WeSERVE in reducing the hunger map in Northern Virginia during this unprecedented time. This grant will allow WeSERVE to stock our pantry and enhance the services provided. We are so grateful to have their support! A very large Thank You from WeSERVE to Food Lion for their generosity with providing the necessary funding needed as we continue to support the nourishment of our community impacted during this Pandemic.   • WeSERVE Awarded CAFB Food Grant

On June 1, 2020, the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) awarded a $7,200 Food Grant to WeSERVE CDC! The CAFB recognizes the efforts of WeSERVE in reducing the hunger map in Northern Virginia during this unprecedented time. This grant will allow WeSERVE to stock our pantry with dry goods that can be distributed over several months. We are so grateful to have their support! Our volunteers are working tirelessly to organize each shipment of food as it’s delivered to our storehouse. A very large Thank You from WeSERVE to CAFB for their generosity with providing the necessary funding needed as we continue to support the nourishment of our community impacted during this Pandemic.   • Creative Writing Workshops

    WeSERVE has partnered with En Prose Publications to offer the following training and informational classes during the months of January and February: Microsoft Word 101: This session helps participants perform basic Microsoft Word functions. Book Writing for Aspiring Authors: This session presents tips to help those desiring to write a book, get started with their writing. It’s also designed to help those experiencing writer’s block to get unstuck. Self Publishing for Authors: This session presents tips on how and where authors can go to get started self publishing their manuscripts. Anticipated class days/times: Tuesday at 5:00 – 7:00pm and 7:30 – 9:30 pm WeSERVE partners with the following entities to provide these Creative Writing workshops.

    WeSERVE has partnered with Alpha Business Development Advisors to offer the following training and informational classes during the months of January and February: Writing a Business Plan: This session helps business owners draft several segments of their business plan to include, location, product, targeted customers and competitive advantage. Business Development: This session presents tips aspiring business owners may consider when starting their business. Entrepreneurship 101:  Not every small business owner is an entrepreneur. This session presents the difference between business ownership and entrepreneurship and helps participants self determine if their venture is entrepreneurial. Anticipated class days/times: Thursday at 5:00 – 7:00pm and 7:30 – 9:30 pm WeSERVE partners with the following entities to provide these Business Development workshops.
