WeSERVE partners with the National Capital Region, USDA, Walmart, Food Lion, Costco and other local organizations to distribute tons of food every year to individuals in need. However, WeSERVE recognized to need to reach the many people who cannot travel to WeSERVE’s physical location to receive food during its monthly distribution. Eugene McCown, President of WeSERVE said: “This grant will make a huge difference in the lives of the people living in our area and in the Northern Virginia Community.” The Human Services grant will enable WeSERVE to address a greater need through the WeSERVE Mobile Food Distribution Pop-Up site. The Mobile Distribution Service will allow WeSERVE to travel along the Route 1 Corridor in Prince William County and serve individuals and families that are in need who do not have transportation to visit or transport food from our local facility. It will also enable WeSERVE to purchase and offer other healthier, more well-rounded meal items such as fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, protein foods and legume, to support their physical well-being.
